Who is Gengahr?
Felix Bushe, John Victor, Hugh Schulte & Danny Ward
How would you describe your sound and image of the band?
We began recording our first material around Halloween so it seemed fitting, especially as we’re named after a ghost, that the theme of some of the narratives of songs is quite weird and fantastical.
Who/what do you take inspiration from?
Lots of things. We’re all big into film and art. Big fans of Terry Gillingham and Wes Anderson. We each have varying tastes in music. Anything from Ali Farka Toure to Arthur Russell.
How do you feel about the immensely positive responses you got from your debut album ‘A Dream Outside?’
It came as a surprise to us really. The album process was very much diy, we didn’t really know what we were doing! So to receive such a great response was equally surprising and exciting.
You’ve been playing some of your new music on tour, what is next for Gengahr? Second album/EP release?
it’ll be a second album. We’re currently in the process of recording it but we want to take time to get it right. We’re very happy with what we have so far and are really excited about showing everybody! Stay tuned…
